Thanks for all the great feedback, everyone. I didn't feel that I should blindly just do what the landlord said without getting some preliminary feedback from others who have more experience and expertise.
Thanks!
Huh? You lost me. I asked advice and listed what I see as 3 possible options: pay, leave, threat to report them since they have said that they want the process as it is so that they don't have to report any financials.
I asked the question to see what was considered normal and legal in regards...
Does anyone know the AR legality with this?
Can a landlord legally require $US and have the right to not accept $AR?
And then only permit $AR if tenant pays $4.40AR per $1US (current exchange rate is $4.20) since the $4.40 rate is what $US are on the black market?
I do know that the...
I did a 10 day trip to Santiago just a few weeks ago, love that city. I flew there, $72US each way before taxes, 2 hr flight. But the girl I was with traveled by bus since she left BA a few days earlier to go to Mendoza. She crossed over the Andes. She did have a problem though because you...

JB, without speaking for the author, I'd say that the reason for all those stops on the trip is because they are taking buses the entire time. So we're talking nearby Cordoba is still 9-10 hours. So while it might seem like a lot of stops for a trip, the stops at least enable one to get off the...
There have been a number of threads on the forum of late of the Santiago vs BA type.
I recently took another trip to Santiago in late July through mid-august as I was craving good seafood.
So for anyone interested in food in Santiago, here's my Santiago in Food Photos article.
Speaking of spicy food, here's the newest addition to the "Home cookin'" blog:
Home Cookin': Seared Chicken with Creole Sauce & Maque Choux
And the leftover creole sauce and maque choux used to create a chicken & corn creole:
Brent, Santiago, hands down, not even close based primarily on your interests. I don't know anything about the gay scene in Santiago though, other than that it exists, but maybe not like in BA.
As part of my food site, FoodSherpas.com, I've put together a couple fun little food guides for any users of Foursquare and Foodspotting.
Calling them the "Ate8", a list of 8 foods/restaurants to try.
all you need to do is click the "follow" button on each page and then check-in/spot away. In...
Love these types of posts...always so helpful. But I gotta ask, generally to the entire community: there's a great Food forum on this site, yet people seem to post food/restaurant related items pot-luck style (pun intended) in the general "expat" forum. I'm guessing it's just a matter of not...
Hello fellow food fans!
So I'm putting together a list of Buenos Aires food essentials and thought that ya'll might be the best source for good info.
What I'm looking for is simple: what restaurants do you think are the most important for someone to visit to try a specific cuisine.
Have just...
Tim,
Then you'll probably REALLY like one I make from time to time that is not included in the article above...
The Maque Choux empanada
It's my version of the "humita" empanada, but with some Louisiana flair.
It's as simple as making Maque Choux (diced and sauteed red pepper, green bell...
Tell that to British, French, Portuguese and of course, Spanish imperialists who set the tone for a great portion of the world. All those churches and Christians you see around the city didn't just happen to stumble upon baby jesus ;)
I'm kidding on that...not associating the conquering of a...
Indeed. Brits are by nature more accepting and tend to be more reserved when it comes to their own emotions...compared to Americans and Aussies. It's a strength in their culture that is commendable. That said, there's also a much higher rate of alcoholism by Brits, so i'm sure some...
I can only speak for myself, but all my posts aren't about anything money related. I've lived for periods of time in many countries around the world. It's the acceptance of social flaws and acceptance and implementation of poor moral behavior.
I have more friends here that are from here, that...
The issue is not that BA does not compare with cities in 1st world countries like US, Australia, Germany, France, etc. The problem is that BA is more and more on par with some of the worst cities on the continent and that there are a number of better environments in other south american cities...
Gotta agree. Places like Kansas are fine a couple times a year if for only one thing: they do bring in decent seafood like swordfish, which is not easy to find in BA. And that it's one of the only places where one can get decent Southern US BBQ ribs. Granted, they're baby back, but they aren't...
