More space / short term lets

We need some more space to live in, but it's a load of hassle to move, expensive and we might need to move again soon. Any ideas on getting some more space? Some things that would be nice to be able to rent: - a garden or allotment - storage space - a workshop - a garage - a very short term...

The only money printing company nationalized

You guys really are the most negative bunch of trolls I've ever seen. Inflation is at 30%. I don't think there's much scope for even more inflation without tanking the economy. Btw, the FED & BoE are both private. The profits from the printing go to them, not the gov.

Exporting hassles small and large scale

Great to hear from a likeminded individual, stay in touch. I've looked at art & wine but really I'd like to exporting dried food of the kind that could be marked as fertiliser, though this could really need some funds to get it going properly. I have a method to store what is selling...

How to survive on INDEC budget

Stop moaning and get on with it. We've all known and have been living with expensive supermarkets for ages now. The only way is buying raw ingredients and doing things the old way. Consumerist attitudes of getting some company to do it all for you ain't going to work here. You've got to buy...

Exporting hassles small and large scale

In the UK I always know if I end up down and out I can probably find a way to sell things on ebay to all over the world, walk down to the post office and just send it. AFAIK it doesn't work that way here. So, how does it work? I'm not one to give up easily. Anticipating the negativity that...

    Studying as an electrician

I'm not surprised! I looked it up and all I'm getting is a 6 year (!) course for electrical engineering. This seems to be the way here. In the same way as in the UK the course length is seen somehow as a sign of the quality of the course. So it just gets extended and extended when in actuality...

    Studying as an electrician

I'd like to study to be an electrician and I'm going to be in BA at some point. My Spanish is not so good but I'm doing this for my own interest more than to pass an exam. I just want to try. Bearing in mind I'm looking for hands-on practical approach what would be the way to go about it...

    New Dollar Restrictions

A few comments. - I'm getting 25% profit with blackmarket $ rate via £ allowing commission. Venezuela is ~35%. - UK Statutory instruments are marine law technically. - Protectionist Governments think they can't beat the market. Even Jesus couldn't do that...

Alternative languages, communities, nationalities to BAExpats?

As much as I enjoy meeting people from this group I find there's a heck of a lot of people from the USA, quite a few Brits and a few Argentines who have lived elsewhere or known other cultures and so identify with people here. Those are the big three nationalities I see with BAExpats. Any...

En Blanco vs En Negro, being on the radar in general & driving

I'm afraid it tends to be that it falls back to the last place you did have residency in, which is usually where you have citizenship. Well, that's how it tends to be for the UK in theory where there a plenty of people who travel around a lot. Let's say for people who take a gap year...

En Blanco vs En Negro, being on the radar in general & driving

Well, I've been keeping it to the UK and yes I've been able to claim back tax for some years where I've been away a lot. That said, I don't earn much so even 22% ends up as not a lot of tax to get back (hope I can fix this, I'll never be able to afford a house otherwise!). I end up paying more...

I guess that makes sense since it's work to prove the purity. Surprised it doesn't happen though?

En Blanco vs En Negro, being on the radar in general & driving

Ah, I missed that if I got residency I'd be taxed twice on my foreign income... in theory... Citizenship would be useful to hide the shame of being British in some places of the world... but I don't think it's possible to have citizenship without residency

Electronics in Uruguay or Paraguay, Less Expensive Than Argentina?

Thanks LuLu. What I do now sometimes is separate the hard drive from the computer. I've taken out the screws just in case. That way if something gets seized I hope I have a better chance of keeping all my photos etc. I think also I will keep a print out of ebay receipts next time I buy...

En Blanco vs En Negro, being on the radar in general & driving

Ah. I work at sea ~6months a year so that will invalidate any residency attempt I make? It's usually 1-2 months at sea, then 1 month at home...
