I want to sell some of my used English books (fiction and non fiction). Where can I sell them? What should I expect to get paid per book? Thanks.

    Re: Care Packages?

No, they do not have the birth control I was taking. But since then, I have switched to a local one, and you're right- it's cheap, like $17 pesos. Birth control here is one dosis of the same level of hormones for the whole month, unlike Ortho Tri-Cyclen that uses different levels throughout...

    Dealing with the Comments

Thanks again for responding to my post. I have lived in Buenos Aires for a couple years now, I'd like to think that I have a thick skin and I try to not pay attention at all to these things that happen and comments men make. But after awhile these things get old, as does my silence and that's...

    What was your motivation to

Visa requirements are annoying, but not impossible. Basically lots of paperwork and about one year's time. Check out US requirements on the embassy's website. http://buenosaires.usembassy.gov/family_based_immigrants.html

    What was your motivation to

Yes--- that's how I did it. My inspiration? Just needed a change and had a good feeling about Buenos Aires. Two years later, I am married to a wonderful Argentine man and planning to move back to the States early next year.

    Re: Care Packages?

If it is used and you are going from US to Argentina, no problem. I brought basically a whole pawn shop with me through customs and got the red light. I just smiled and had no problem with my Bose speakers, desktop computer, headphones, ipod, 2 cameras, video camera, etc. All were used though...

    Re: Care Packages?

I had my sister send me birth control via FedEx. She stuck it in a big NY Times Sunday newspaper and labeled it "papers" on the customs shipping form. It arrived fine. We did that because my friend had her mom send meds and labeled it meds and she had a whole bunch of problems.

    Dealing with the Comments

Syngirl-- thanks for the suggestions about saying hi to more people in the neighborhood, porteros, etc. That's not a bad idea; however, I imagine that they'll think I am coming on to them..... I do get some "que lindos ojos", but equal amounts of let me "chuparte el cuerpo", which is totally...

    Dealing with the Comments

The comments come from different people. Several months ago, there was a group of about 3 guys that would hang out on my block and always shout stuff to me. It bothered me so much, that my husband approached one of the guys at 2 am one night and was like, "Don't be a jack ass, we're "gente del...

    Dealing with the Comments

Hello. I am a young woman like many of you, and like many of you, men say things to me 24-7 in the street. I don't live in the nicest of barrios, I don't know if that makes a difference....but the comments are out of control and I don't know what (if anything) I can do about it. Literally, I go...

    Renting Apartments, Good Companies

Thanks for the note about the BAD rental company. I definitely won't choose them. About the list of 400 companies.... that is a bit overwhelming. If someone has a recomendation or two for good companies, it'd be much appreciated. Thanks for responding!

    Renting Apartments, Good Companies

Hi! I'd like to rent out my furnished apartment to foreigners and am looking for a good company to go with. I would've liked to have done it myself, but really it's too much work and I don't have the contacts, advertising budget or time....plus I won't be living in Argentina after this year...

    Alternatives to Teaching English

Thanks for the tips, guys. My former working experience is teaching English, accent training, retail management and interior design. Somehow it all makes sense on a resume. If anyone hears some interesting job announcements, please post them. Gracias.

    Alternatives to Teaching English

Thanks for responding to my post! I am fluent in Spanish and married to an Argentine. However, I am still on a tourist visa, but do have facturas if needed. I actually worked at a call center before as an accent trainer and the company stopped paying their workers and I am currently in a legal...

    Alternatives to Teaching English

Hi All! I am looking for a job in Buenos Aires and don't want to teach English anymore. I have been doing it for over two years now and would like something new- marketing, pr, finance, I don't care. Any suggestions? Any helpful job websites? Craig's List has been less than helpful. Thanks.
