    The Clubhouse

Has anyone been? Is it worth it? Anyone have experience going solo there? Considering I know few people here, and probably would know no one who is a member, I'd probably be going solo to lounge around on weekends by the pool (in the summer). Are the events any good? Overall, a good...

    The Montevidean Temptress

Yes, the gyms here are a far cry from what they should be for a city of this size and caliber. I go to the Megatlon in Alto Palermo because it's the nearest, and it's ridiculous that a gym for such a populated area in such a big city is so tiny and mediocre. But it's not just about the gym. I...

    The Montevidean Temptress

Like I said, it was more for me - more of my style of place. I lived most of my life in suburban North Carolina, Mississippi, and Alabama. THAT was boring. I liked Uruguay a lot. I was never bored in the month I was there, performing the exact same job that I perform here in Buenos Aires. I was...

    The Montevidean Temptress

She's got me. I'm steadily increasing my interest in making a jump over to Uruguay. I spent a month out of the 6 months since I left the US in Montevideo/Punta on a work trip, overall the vibe of the city seemed to be a better fit for me. But the quality of life and the general climate also...

Can I Work With My Precaria?

Yes, you can. I am currently working under my precaria, with a contract, but it is not a finite contract - it has no "end" date (not sure if good or bad, frankly). I just assume that, if my precaria were not to turn into a permanent residency, I would have to leave/be terminated from the position.

    Inflation March 2014-Now

Hi, can anyone tell me what the independent (not official) inflation has been from March 2014 to today? If you know the official, that helps too. Would be a huge help, I'm seeing all kinds of things that don't make sense to me. Thanks!!

    Personal Trainer

I have an excellent recommendation. When I arrived in Argentina I was a stick. This trainer is better than the one I had occasionally in the US and the one I had in Spain. PM me!

    Movistar 4G

Will definitely have to look into that Arlink. I just got my new 4G SIM card from Movistar and I'm very disappointed with how mediocre it is (although their way of sending it to me and preparing me for it was incredibly professional and surprisingly efficient). I'm particularly impatient with...

Resumé Writing Service - Have You Ever Used One?

If you're able to get ahold of someone who is or has been a hiring manager for the type of company and position you are looking to work in, that is the best person to go to for advice. I met an expat here who was a hiring manager at an ad agency and EVERYTHING had to change about my resume...

    Young Expat Or Fool?

LOL. Quite a bit more, actually. It was a very steep salary adjustment. My terms with him were simple - "I need to have the same standard of living". He said I would, but his figures of how much rent cost, etc were conveniently quite lower than reality and I had not much of an idea myself. I...

    Venezuela: Condones Para Pocos

On professors...my parents were professors at the best university in Venezuela. All their colleagues are gone - left the country. They can't even pay their salaries anymore. Last time I went, they traded horses for lawn mowers to cut all the grass. Droppings everywhere. Classes are constantly...

    Venezuela: Condones Para Pocos

    Venezuela: Condones Para Pocos

"Patria, socialismo, o muerte" was Chavez' motto. It's a self-proclaimed Socialist revolution. The Chavistas are very proud of the concept of "socialismo en el sigo 21". He's not far off using the term, whether it is a perversion of socialism or not.
