    US federal apostille

I just went through this process two months ago. Migraciones explained to me that I must have an FBI check (from the FBI only) and that it must be apostilled. It did take some time to get the report from the FBI, but the apostille happened fairly quickly and without problems. I wish I had a...

Moving from Intermediate to Advanced Spanish

Thanks all for the solid advice. And Dontmindme: I admire your discipline. And you're right, I could be talking in Spanish with my wife more (or all the time?) when the kids aren't around. I'm definitely still facing the hurdle too sounding stupid. I've gotten better at overcoming that recently...

Moving from Intermediate to Advanced Spanish

I've been living in Buenos Aires for the past year. I studied Spanish some in the U.S. prior to moving. My wife and kids are fluent in Spanish (though we speak English in the home to keep the kids' English at a high level.) I've taken a fair amount of classes (completed through level 7 of 8 at...

Physical and Psychological Testing for Job- Questions!

I happen to be organizational psychologist and agree with your comments on the validity of the psych assessments (as they are described above). I don't have any tips on how to pass but I hear that if you google the topic you'll get a lot information on what an evaluator will assess, especially...

    Netflix

I joined a couple months ago (and also belonged in the u.s.) Not disagreeing with what anyone above says about a more limited selection in Argentina, but there is some really good stuff. I discovered the series Breaking Bad and got absolutely hooked. I think there are some other good series on...

    Taking a course at UBA

I'm interested in taking a course at UBA, like a history course for instance, mainly as a way to continue to practice Spanish in addition to learning about the topic. I'm not interested in getting another degree. Has anyone had experience taking courses like this? Any tips about how to do it...

    Monotributista with a Student Visa

Funny that you pose this question. I was just in AFIP today trying to figure out the best way for me to get set up as a monotributista. You can't do it on a tourist visa. You can, however, do it on a student visa. I'm less clear of whether this will still work after the student visa expires.

selling property in argentina. how to transfer $ to the US?

You might check with HSBC. I don't think they charge a fee approaching 30% (that seems quite incredible that citi is charging that)

    Inflation Examples

A small piece of intended to be constructive advice (if you want it.) Increases come about either because employees are adding increased value or by the cost of labor going up. While there is inflation in goods and services, I don't believe there is a similar trend in cost of labor in Argentina...

I'm looking forward some interested in playing friendly yet competitive tennis. In the States had USTA rating of 4.0 and 4.5. I belong to Club de Amigos so if you belong there too that would be ideal. I also have access to a court in Palermo though not sure how long that will last. I'm a 44 year...

I was robbed at gunpoint today

I was driving to one of the outer BA neighborhoods today, Pompeya. After I turned onto a smaller one way street, a car pulled right in front of me and slammed on the brakes. I had to slam my breaks to avoid hitting it (and I just barely did). As soon as that happed, two young men (late teens...

    Anyone using a KINDLE here?

I have had a kindle and bought before I left the U.S. a couple a months ago. I have had no problem downloading books, newspapers, etc. in Argentina. I think that's right that you do pay a fee for wireless delivery outside U.S. but it's easy to download from Amazon site. I haven't come across any...
