Power Blackout In Recoleta & Palermo May Continue....!

Day 3 and Still without power, Internet, water or elevator. The streets are so dark at night that you can barely see someone out on the sidewalk. Save for the occasional generator, it is totally dark and deserted. Day one I was like, ok, can handle this, (the worst part climbing up eight...

    Dodgy Eye Test

I recently had a mini eye test. Very professional and they changed the letters with each eye. My eyes weren't dilated long. And they gave me numbing drops before they tested. Took only about 10 minutes as my eyesight was the same. Sounds like you got way below the norm service.

    Flying With A Large Dog

To be a service dog you need a letter signed by an MD stating exactly how the dog helps you. My dog is a certified therapy dog and because I didn't have a doctors note they wouldn't accept her even with her certification papers. So if you go that route make sure you have the right letter. Best...

Rentista Wire Transfer Woes. Need Help Please.

I didn't have to show ANY transfers to my local bank account during my three years of temporary residency and now am permanent resident (rentista). What I did have to show (just once) was the deposit history of the rental income at my bank in the US, and a letter from the same bank (HSBC) here...

    Cfk Announces Pet Passports!

Hahaha, Serafina, are you serious, implanted chips? Can you imagine the compliance there'd be on that one? Of course if that were the case the owner of the "chip" company would be "Perrzaro" Baez... It's only a tag or piece of paper, like a registration that will be required. Supposedly so that...

The book club CARES!! BTW, a former book club selection has made it to the big screen(The Martian) and is now playing here in BsAs (but we knew what charms the story had before Matt Damon signed on!) Anyone interested in going? We can compare if the movie stayed faithful to the book. Or not...

What Are You Watching On Netflix? Was It Any Good?

Really enjoyed the series, it felt realistic, and was able to understand the Spanish parts more easily than I can Lanata! Now I'm watching "Person of Interest"..another series by the very talented producer of "Lost", J. Abrams . Even has some of the actors from Lost.

Going From Temp - Perm Residency

Somewhere someone is confused! You need to apply for and then renew temporary residency three consecutive years. At the END of the THIRD year OF TEMPORARY RESIDENCE you are eligible to apply for permanent residency..NOT BEFORE, (unless you marry a citizen.) So you become permanent the beginning...

Going From Temp - Perm Residency

The information can seem misleading..the truth is you can only apply for a change from temporary to permanent residency near the end of your third "temporary" year, as Steve mentioned.

    Return To The Us

I don't know how much money you want to spend, but I solved that problem once by buying a friend the airline ticket with the understanding that they would check two bags for me. Much much less hassle, and they even had my cat under their seat as I was traveling with the dog under mine.

    Buenos Aires Herald

I disagree that it has a neutral stance. It seems pro government to me. You have to read the Spanish language papers (like La Nacion or InfoBae) to understand the differences in how the same news is presented. Sometimes what they omit to say is the most damning...
