    go to Uruguay and withdraw a bunch of dollars there! The machines BROU (banco republica) allow withdrawals of us to $1000 USD at one time and the other BANRED/other types allow up to $300 but you can withdrawal multiple times.

    I recommend United based on past experiences and bad experiences with the lines at Ezeiza on AA. Also NYC is going to have better shopping options for your wife than Miami- there are great sample sales as someone mentioned and the safe cheap prices at national stores such as Target or Forever...
