    exchange rate?

Once you exit customs and immigration at EZE airport, there is a Bank around the corner on your right where a lot of people exchange money. It has really good rates, so don't use the first Cambio Exchange inside the airport (it has far worse rates). Once in Buenos Aires you'll get good rates...

    Inflation in BA?

Well, if you want to actually watch the video and talk about it, I'm game. But given that he was one of the few people who predicted the sub-prime mess when almost everyone else missed it, you may want to put one of your books down and see what others are saying from time to time. I read a...

    Inflation in BA?

Both China and Japan are in far better financial shape than the US. Given that other countries are already starting to negotiate trade deals in local currencies instead of the US dollar (China and Russia recently negotiated one), it's time as the reserve currency is limited. With the...

    Mailing Letter Back Home

I need to mail a few pages back to Canada from Buenos Aires. I looked at FedEx, but don't really want to pay $40 USD. So I'm thinking of using normal airmail. Where does one go to mail something like that? Someone mentioned some of the locoturios offer mail services? Thanks.

prices on my street went up 20% this week

You're going to see price deflation in some asset classes (such as housing in the states), but in general you're going to continue to see inflation. How can it be any different? The policies of all fiat regimes is to print money to pay off debt. That, by definition, is inflation of the money...

    Printing Documents

That does help, thank you! Any idea what a rough cost per page is at those internet kiosks?

    Printing Documents

I have a legal document I need to print, sign and mail back to Canada. Can anyone suggest a good place to have it printed? I've been told the local internet kiosks sometimes do printing. Anyone know where one is that does? Also, what's the best way to get a legal document back to North...

Flying to Argentina with more electronics than a normal person

I arrived here two weeks ago, and I brought: - 13" Macbook Pro - iPad - iPhone 4 - Canon DSLR + Lenses - Amazon Kindle - Kodak HD camera - Canon Point and Shoot Nobody said a thing, and customs was quick and painless. So doubt you'll have a problem.

    Argentinas Best Restaurant

I went to Don Julio's last night for a steak. It was definitely good, but not "blow you away" type good that I was expecting. Can anyone recommend another place to try to taste Argentinian beef?

    Lavadoro

Thank you! When you say $19/bag, is that like a standard size grocery bag, or do they have their own bags there that they fill up?

    Lavadoro

I'm finally at the point where I need to do some laundry. I've seen a few lavadoro's around but am not entirely sure how they work. I'm told you just walk in with a bag (any bag?) of clothes and they'll wash + fold them for you? My spanish is pretty weak - can anyone give me a few phrases...

    Reciprocity Fee Question

I just arrived from Canada, and I paid the $75 reciprocity fee (single entry). If I take a local flight to see Rio or Lima, will I have to pay the $75 again when I came back (I'm kicking myself for not getting the $150 multi-entry now)? Or is the fee I paid valid for a certain period of time...

    Has anyone seen Tron?

I went with my dad in Canada just around Christmas time, I really enjoyed it in 3D. People complain it didn't have much of a story, but I disagreed. It's well worth the trip for the visuals alone, but I thought it was faithful to the original Tron and was a good follow up. The sound track is...

    Movistar SIM

Thanks, I registered with that site, and the registration was successful. But now when logging in I get this: El movistar ingresado no se encuentra habilitado. Por favor verifique el número. Muchas gracias. So seems like maybe I need to make a trip to the store. Funny thing is my phone is on...

    Hello Buenos Aires!!

I'd be up for getting together sometime. I'm a 33 year old guy from Vancouver, and I don't know many people yet here. I see you're into photography - I have my SLR here and I'm itching to go on a photo-walk!

    Movistar SIM

So I went down to the big Movistar store and managed to get a SIM card for my phone. I've put it into my cell and it seems to recognize the Movistar network. Unfortunately i can't seem to buy any credit for it. I walked up to one of those kiosks with my phone number and they couldn't seem to...

Do you know if they have micro SIMs for the iPhone 4, or just the regular sized ones? Thanks.
