Temporarily leave country after applying for birth-based residency?

If you leave the country there is a possibility that the DNM will see that you're not even in Argentina anymore and decline your residency application. Better to leave after you've received the DNI which can take a couple months to receive after you've applied.

Buy / sell vehicle without residency - taxes due?

If you are afraid of any "grabby grabby" why even get married in the first place, you don't need a marriage license from the govt to be in a relationship with someone else

    Cash or credit?

I'd say the majority of the places I go to offer at least a 10% discount for cash payments, sometimes more. That you get a better exchange rate vs card is icing on the cake. Given how expensive BA is nowadays a 20%+ savings makes a big difference

    Owning vehicle BA

I tried several times to get this to work but it did not accept any of my foreign credit cards, seems you have to have an Argentine credit card. I don't suppose any banks will issue credit cards to folks without DNI?

    Cash or credit?

If you use your credit card expect to lose at least 30% compared to pesos cash. Blue dollar is 20%+ better than the CC rate, and most establishments give a 10%+ discount for paying in cash

    Making friends while visiting

Make sure to watch Agustinas videos at dreamingspanish.com , she is a native Porteña and has videos from super beginner to advanced. The Argentine accent is very different from Mexico or Spain etc, so better to practice with what you'll actually be hearing. Getting just some basic Spanish skills...

Jorge Macri will announce the construction of the new subway line F

It's interesting they prioritized making the network denser downtown but don't extend the lines further out, there's large swaths of the city without any Subte service at all

    Latest on visa overstays?

If you already overstayed it'd be foolish to leave and come back, no point at all. The overstay fee is fixed no matter how long you overstay, whether it's 1 day or years. He can just stay here and leave when he's ready to go, no worries about the tourist visa expiration

    Moving to Argentina

$10K x 12 = $120,000. Doesn't seem very outlandish for a senior position, maybe that's my US perspective showing through

After Argentina: South America Options for Naturalized Argentine Citizens

Hard to make such long term plans, 3 years from now things could be very different. Peru is, unfortunately, a dump in comparison to BA, forget about comparisons to the USA. There's probably 20 blocks of civilization in Miraflores, Barranco and San Isidro in Lima, and most of the rest of the...

Any recent information on opening bank accounts without DNI?

I have Santander and Galicia both. You just have to keep trying various branches until you find one that will do it. I will note that Galicias online banking straight up doesn't work if you don't have a DNI. While Santander has around 90% functionality including transferencias

How to cash a US Check?

You take a picture of the check with your American banking app, like Bank of America, Wells Fargo etc they all allow remote deposit of checks with pictures taken by your phone. Once the money is in your bank account in the US you bring it to Argentina in the normal way, Cuevas or use your credit...

How's everyone hanging in there with the cost of living these days?

For a single person or for a family? Even on $1400 a month you can rent your own place in a nice part of the city and have a lot leftover. I'd expect those at/near the poverty line to be living in non prime neighborhoods, perhaps with roommates, and that can be done on less than $1400 monthly...

Alternatives to Lemon, Satoshi, Belo? for US Citizen

If you're American why not use a USA based service? Unfortunately due to onerous regulations by the US, most overseas crypto companies flat out don't accept American clients.

Overstaying - Entry to Argentina nearly denied

Visa runs don't make any sense. The overstay fine is only 40k pesos. You'd pay much more to fly elsewhere and come back, and then risk denials at the border. You're much better off just overstaying however long you want to be in Argentina

    Rentista visa application outside Argentina

The new law is that if you require a tourist visa to come to Argentina, you cannot enter as a tourist and then change your status. You'd need to get the proper visa (student, rentista etc) in your home country first via the embassy. (for example people from India, Africa etc) If you are visa...

Small bills are like a hot potato, nobody wants them so they're worth less. People only want $100 bills with the big face here
