Anyone recently extended a tourist stay and re-entered?

The ferry company that is referred to above is Colonia Express. I used them this year to go to Montevideo for a weekend. Very easy to get to. You can take the C subway line to Constitucion stop and then catch a cab that goes for about 20 blocks straight down Brasil Street.

How to get $US to someone in Argentina

I forgot to mention that you don't need a local bank account to transfer money from the US. Xoom has various pick up spots around the city. In the beginning I use to use MORE on Libertad 1057 street right off Av Santa Fe. It's always full of tourists. Just remember to bring your passport and...

If you need to get your hands on U$D you can take the ferry over to Montevideo, Uruguay and go to one of the local casinos. I did it myself this year just to see if I could do it. I got $100 using my Amex card on the ATM machine inside the casino. Montevideo has 2 casinos one downtown near Plaza...

Help with recommendations - moving my elderly mother out of Argentina and overwhelmed by the process

When I moved to BA from NYC I used Andreani to do the moving of some of my things. They were very helpful and I didn't have any problems with them. I didn't even have to go to the customs house to answer questions. Highly recommended.

You can buy them in Constitucion at the La Vicuñita store on Brasil 1217 next to the Medicinal Herbs place. It's one block from the RR station. Reasonably safe area. If you ever come to BA now you know where to go. I like to keep a small amount on hand in case I want to stay awake for...
