    packages from US

You MUST have your original passport. I initially gave them a copy, which they did not accept. So I had to go all the way home and then back to Retiro - this was the worst part of the experience, for me at least, and since it was my own fault I can't complain too much.

    packages from US

Well, I finally have the packages after spending several hours at the International Post Office at Retiro. Ironically, the delay was more my fault than Correo Argentino's fault, and I didn't find the bureaucratic nightmare I was expecting (though I think I'm just one of the lucky ones.) Had I...

    packages from US

So unless I'm mistaken Correo Central - at Sarmiento 189 - is different from the International Post Office in Retiro. Where exactly is the Retiro post office - right by the station?

    packages from US

Yikes. Looking back, I'm not sure why I thought it would be a good idea to send stuff from home. Well tomorrow I think I'll try my luck at Ezeiza - I've heard bus 86 can take you there (eventually...) ?

    packages from US

Thanks again - I'll probably go to the post office this week. Is the main post office located at Sarmiento 189?

    packages from US

I just got an update - apparently my package was delivered on April 15 and has been sitting in customs ever since (or at least this is what my Mom was told.) Does anyone know if 'customs' means the main post office or the airport? Again, any suggestions are welcome.

    Best Pizza in BA

HDM - I have also been snobbishly searching (in vain) for a true Napoletano pizza. I've heard Piola is the closest thing they have in BsAs - I'll have to check it out. I've been to Io Te Amasso - it was good, but not the best. I think we just have to come to grips with the fact that once you've...

    packages from US

Thanks to all for your responses. I'll guess I'll just wait to hear from the Post Office and then brace myself for a long and frustrating pick-up process - which I'm willing to go through if it means getting my things! Cheers!

    packages from US

I was wondering if anyone had experience getting packages from the US. My parents shipped me a package (filled mostly with clothes, no electronics or other valuables) about two weeks ago, and I still haven't received it (although I realise it may just take a while to get here.) My Argentine...

    advice for an aspiring foodie

I moved to Buenos Aires almost two months ago to teach English, but I'm considering a change in my career path. I've decided to apply for a Master degree from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy. The actual degree is in Food Culture and Communications and it aims "to provide students...

Hoping to Make Some Female Friends

What do you all think about organising a get together this weekend - maybe late afternoon on Sunday?

Hoping to Make Some Female Friends

I'm not sure if you all got together tonight - I just got back from the beach and couldn't make it out this weekend. Hopefully you all had a good time and hope to meet some of you at another get together! --Julia

Hoping to Make Some Female Friends

I'm going to Mar del Plata this weekend, so I won't be able to make it on Sunday. But hopefully we'll organise another get together and I can make it to that!

Thanks for your advice. Miramar does sound nice. Do you know of any cheap hotels or hostels? How is the nightlife?

    beach

A group of friends and I are trying to plan a weekend trip to the beach. We're all a bit new to Argentina, so if anyone has any advice about where to go it would be appreciated. We would most likely leave early Saturday and come back late Sunday. I know Mar del Plata is an obvious one, but I've...

    New to BsAs

I second what Kate said - couldn't make it to La Biela but still want to meet everyone. I have to get some work done tonight so I can't do plaza serrano, but another time this week should work for me.

    New to BsAs

Are you all meeting up just tomorrow or tonight as well? I'd be down for a bar tonight - like Kate said, there are tons of places around Plaza Serrano where we could meet up to start. My number is 1133 212 947
