    Temporary Rental Agreements..LegalIncreases $$$

One of my Argentine hobby friends calls this the "price of the Argentine pride". He says it is better for some vendors to loose business than being regarded as a "boludo" for not having taken the chance of charging extra. Like if other vendor asks "how much did you charge the foreigner for the...

    Temporary Rental Agreements..LegalIncreases $$$

I was just talking to my Argentine wife on these lines the other day. It is not a rule, but I think you are right for the most part. I was astonished by the lack of negotiation skills found in general. In example, and not to hijack the thread, I am into collectibles (a lot of useless stuff) and...

    Motorbike and helicopter lessons

*DROOL* I had an FZR 1000 EXUP back in the day, best damn bike I ever had... and I had quite a few. I can't even imagine what riding an R1 must be like. I have been getting the bug lately, I'm thinking a 250/500 (for now, wink wink)

Probably THE question right now: How to get rid of pesos?

That part is 100% true, I got first hand knowledge of some countries in the region exchanging at 7.5+ AR$ to 1 US$ (i.e. Paraguay), Uruguay is the best AFAIK at 6.5 / 6.75 last I went there. Leaving the country with pesos is suicide.

Probably THE question right now: How to get rid of pesos?

Is paypal an option? My wife has a few US$ that she needs to convert from her Argentinean Paypal account into Pesos... we were offered 6 to 1 rate, but I guess we can work something out, doesn't need to be 6. Let me know!

    Sixty days?

The guy can wear boxing gloves and threaten to shut the lights off in a meeting while saying "nobody would leave this room" and yet some peeps go to his place to bang their pans and he is suddenly a victim. I don't think the regular Argentine realizes how effed up this is. In some online news...

Link for live webcast of CFK Georgetown talk

This just in... the AFIP is looking to black list a certain "Gah-rih Min-chingan" in the migration records. Mt Min-chingan may or may not have granted himself a "deep crevice check" by the Policia Aeroportuaria in case he ever lands in Argentina.

    Have Passport, Will Travel

Oh MAN!, I wish I knew about this earlier, because I could have saved in that little mountain of super efficient paperwork that I had to pay in USD and make lines for when I came here.... I wish I knew earlier that all that background crap paperwork they kept asking me was totally and...

    Have Passport, Will Travel

There is no need to build anything, they don't even need to rip you off your passport. Say an Argentine has family and he/she wants to flee the country today. What would he/she do? 1) Put all his/her valuables for sale... right? 2) Get paid in... TADDA! pesos 3) Then you are screwed because...

    Have Passport, Will Travel

Correction it IS a matter of BOTH freedom and travel. Just taking into account that in order to start a Consulate process you need USD and the government won't allow you to get those since you have no ticket, but you can't get a plane ticket without the due dilligence at the Consulate... I know...

"Clarin" newspaper is shutting down on 15 Oct

It is funny, as I understand there a lot of other networks in place, and yet the government only pursues Clarin as it is damaging the principals image and interests. Pretty much all the rest of the tv stations and media outlets are in a way a huge media monopoly fueled by the public adverts...

Pork Knuckle, 16 pesos a kilo (Mercado central)

Cool!. If the pork comes with a thick skin, I score it gently with a knife in a square pattern to ensure the juices and flavors reach the meat overnight. Also I gring some of the lime skin into the mix. It adds a touch of freshness and greatly improves the scent IMHO! Enjoy!
