    Jetsmart Keep Rejecting Payment

Yeah, I try to avoid those because it's difficult to get help when something goes wrong. I ended up just buying an Aerolineas flight, which my payment was returned after their verification process. I went to their office at the airport and just paid there (which was about $50 cheaper for some...

    Jetsmart Keep Rejecting Payment

I'm trying to purchase a ticket but they keep rejecting my payment. Doesn't matter what I choose, Argentina website paying in ARS or USD doesn't work. I read online people said to use the Chilean version which I did switch to and tried paying in Chilean pesos but still doesn't work. I was able...

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

The way US AMEX works in my experience on getting the rebate: All charges from Thursday (week 1) through next week's Wednesday (week 2), the rebate will post on Week 3's Friday. There seems to be a minimum 9 days (15 max) before the charge gets the rebate. Example with Thursday being the 1st...

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

Anyone using Amex but not getting the MEP after 2-3 weeks? Bought some airfares, took the flight, but its been 4 weeks now and still didn't get the MEP. Also some purchases at the pharmacy and gas stations are not getting the MEP. So really unsure why some charges are getting it while some are...

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

I'm in BA right now and gonna try it and report back so we can get some data points... --since now the official rate is much closer to the MEP rate, it's not too bad a rate if it doesn't work.

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

Yeah I understand that. My example like emirates (Dubai owned) uses Argentina’s payment processor when the country is switched to Argentina. It all depends on the airline if they uses it or not.

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

It needs to be processed through an Argentina payment processor. Some airlines use that, like avianca, emirates.

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

Seems like mastercard is charging the mep rate and not the official rate, so I'm guessing no rebate anymore? It would be good considering the crazy spikes made the exchange crappy sometimes when the rebate hits a few days later.

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

Yes, I buy flights from jetsmart/aerolineas in the US and get the mep rates, just have to set it to ARS currency.

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

edit- misread your post, but yes you can purchase things abroad (without VPN, depending on the site) and it will work... as long as it's processed in argentine pesos and in argentina

Where is the money from this "rebate" coming from?

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

I think the easiest solution to this problem would be asking them for a refund on the visa and charging to your MC.

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

Last time I used a visa (last month) the pending charge was the official rate until it gets posted at the MEP rate, there is no refund, only for mastercard (and Amex) it does that. Am I missing something?

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

Yes, for me it took about 9 days for Amex to post the rebate. my charge was in March, so maybe they sped things up.

So today I checked the Amex card and I did indeed got a refund. It is labeled as New Merchant, about 43% of the original charge back ($107.11). Took 9 days to process though.
