I think I am going to do something like that. I used a transformer (right voltage and watts) this morning and the plates didn't seem to heat up as much as they usually do. I think I'd prefer to find a similar one while here than risking harming my chi. :P :P :P thanks for all the replies...

My host mom just gave me a transformador (that weighs super heavy).. sounds like the box that had been described above. it says on the back: 220-110 voltios 150- WATT do you think this would be safe to use?

okay, thanks, i will go out and check at a store tomorrow. the converter i had purchased says it can convert 220/240V to 110/120V on its highest setting. The iron is 110 V. The thing is, that when I put it on that high setting the iron wouldn't turn on. SO, i feel maybe the problem has...
