I went to the immigration office in Buenos Aires to apply for what I understood was a 90 day extension on my stay.

When I was there, they told me I would be fine to exit the country based on that extension and the exit date would be June 25th 2026

Afterward, I reviewed the document, which is a “residencia precaria.” The issue is that it shows validity only from March 20, 2026 to March 30, 2026. It doesn’t mention anything about an additional 90 days, which is where I’m confused.

I also tried checking my case online using the expediente number and my date of birth, but I can’t find any clear confirmation that the extension was approved.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Is it possible that the dates on the precaria were just covering the processing period, and the actual extension isn’t reflected there? Or does this mean the extension wasn’t approved the way I thought?

Just trying to figure out if I’m actually okay to leave the country without any issues, or if I need to sort this out first.

The one and only time I had to do a tourist visa extension before getting residency, I walked out with solid proof of the 90-day extension the same day, without them issuing a precaria first (several years ago). Seems that they issued you that short precaria only, but haven't got around to issuing the tourist visa extension.

I wouldn't leave the country until you know for certain they've extended your tourist visa, especially now. I know a friend who is waiting on a precaria renewal and in past years it's been done the same day they've sent the ask in, but she's now past the expiry on a previous precaria and still waiting on them to reissue the new one. She even put in for that renewed precaria 10 days before her first was set to expire. Seems the new laws and responsibilities are backlogging the offices, especially in Buenos Aires. I hope you can get the proper help.

One question, when searching with your expediente number/birthday...do dark blue buttons appear that bottom that say "imprima su precaria, intimacion, o disposicion'? and does it say (at the top after you search): "En Tramite" in the box labeled disposicion? Or are you not able to see anything when searching?

I hope all works out and you're able to get it sorted so that you can travel freely.

When you apply for the precaria the first time, it is valid until the personal interview.

If Floridamedellin actually applied for a 90 day extension also known as the "prorroga de permanencia" in person, at the office of migraciones, why would a "precaria" have been given?

I only got one 90 day extension and I recieved it at the same time I asked for it. Even though that was a long time ago, no follow up interview was required and I haven't since read about anyone who has recieved only a ten day precaria after asking for a prórroga, just the 90 day extension.

I understand that a personal interview is scheduled after submitting the required documents for temporary residency, and I believe that the precaria for temporary residency could be granted only after the personal interview.

I can only suggest going back to migraciones for a clarification.
