I searched the forum but didnt see any topic about this. I have been losing my hair like crazy in the last couple of years. It doesnt get better but worse. I have a lot of hair, long, nice looking, wavy dark brown hair, but im afraid it wont be as nice if it keeps falling....maybe ill turn bald :(

Do you know any product that one can purchase in Buenos Aires that actually helps with this?
I ve used the Hortiga shampoo and conditioner and nothing
I stopped using Pantene like 2 years ago cause it was greasy, and started using Head and shoulders and Elvive for hair loss, but my hair keeps falling.

Does anyone know any good product that can help with this?

Many thanks :)

Is that why you haven't put your real photo up? ;)

To be honest I've had a similar problem since moving to BA. I think it might be the chlorine in the water.

You should try this line of aloe vera based products: shampoo is 60% aloe, conditioner 30%, anti loss lotion & gel for hair loss 98%, etc.

Check out their promotions in the "Promociones" tab in spanish web page http://www.aloepuro.com/promociones.php

I know someone with this problem too. I'm curious, is the hair breaking off, or pulling out at the root? Maybe this can be useful in researching common causes for the problem.

Is normal to loose hair specially in summer as long as it grow again, the problem is when it stop growing lol

I have this problem too. Have lost so much over the last couple of years here that I''ve started asking my hubby to check for visible bald spots! I have no solution but if you do find a miracle cure please post it here, I'd love to have my bouncy ponytail back.

I was doing a bit of research online. These 2 links could be helpful:

http://www.preventio...logen-effluvium

http://www.articlesb...oss-722751.html

In the first on, 9 reasons for hair loss, the 9th reason in the list is "excessive styling", which is the closest to the chemical-based cause we're discussing here. As I suggested earlier, it could be relevant to determine if the hair is breaking, or coming out at the root. They mention a "pull test" for this: "take a small handful of about 50 strands, pull gently, and check to see whether the hair that comes out has bulbs on the ends."

I was a bit taken aback by the second link, as it implies something I really hadn't considered - that the hair loss could just as easily be from ingesting the water. I had only been thinking about external effects. The idea that it might be from heavy metal poisoning is worthy of some concern.

You can buy Minoxidil (the active ingredient in Rogaine) at the pharmacy. My dermatolgist said men should use 10% strength and women 5% strength. The hard water here makes my hair really dry and it breaks and falls out. I put a water filter on my shower head and it has worked wonders.

There was a long thread about this a long time ago. Lots of us reported hair loss since being in BA:

i don't know if it has gotten better for any of them, it certainly hasn't for me.

I'm not one to do fad diets or anything, but my family has a history of autoimmune and gastrointestinal diseases, including celiac's, eczema, and irritable bowel syndrome. My very non medical theory is that, while i've tested negative for celiac's and hypothyroidism, i still have somewhat of a gluten intolerance and, after living in BA for years eating pizza, pasta, and pastries, all that gluten did some serious damage and thus the hair loss. I'm trying out a gluten free diet to see if I can correct it. so far it has helped tremendously with some symptoms (sharp abdominal pain, bloating, i'll spare you the details), but no improvement with hair just yet (i've only been doing it for a month now). So if your family has a history of any autoimmune disease, I'd try going GF (though going truly gluten free is VERY difficult). But that's just me trying to rationalize this madness, trying to find ANY sort of reasoning for something that gives me much grief.
