but the 15% surcharge is added to your monthly bill by your Credit Card issuer on foriegn proccesed transactions, not the merchant, not sure whether AA procceses AA.com.ar transactions locally or in the US, you might try Despegar or the like and see how it prices out.

I have just said that if you buy from AA online you will be charged in dollars, doesn´t motter whether your cc is Arg or foreign. In turn if it happens to be an Arg cc you will be charged 15% on top of that by the cc issuer.

But if you buy from American Airlines Argentina online, why would you get a foreign transaction fee? It's a transaction done with the Argentine entity for a flight originating in Argentina - seems odd?

Interestingly, the flight prices I found using Argentine websites (despegar , aa.com/argentina were all several hundred dollars more than the price for that flight on the US website. I even had my local travel agent check and see what he could do and same thing in pricing difference. Strange.

I have no idea cg, but they have a sign about this on their site. Most likely they are using a foreign cc processor for online sales.

They should start charging the 15% for dinner at Kansas also.

Local travel agents will charge you in pesos and no 15% surcharge as of today. You can also pay in installments. I am going for a second round of coffee

The AA site charges all transactions via the States. A few years ago I bought some tickets using my Canadian credit card -- when my statement came the price charged on my credit card did not reflect the price on my receipt. I called American and complained, they said not their error, everything gets charged via the States, call my bank and see if there were any surcharges levied etc. So called the bank and they said exactly that, all AA charges are transacted in the USA, the bank had charged me an additional fee because it was a transaction over 1000 dollars USD -- since I complained, they actually refunded the fee, which was very nice of them. But yes, conclusion of the whole conversation was that all AA transactions are done in the USA, so if you buy via the website here the govt heregoing to charge your Argentine credit card as if you had made a purchase abroad.

I'm still trying to figure out the reason that they told me the price would change from 1300 to 1470 for a reserved ticket, just because I wanted to use an Argentine CC. Seems unfair that.

It does seem unfair, but they have another sign on their website stating that prices may vary based on your payment method, maybe that is the reason why?
