Alternatives to SKYPE

I’ve read that Google Voice doesn’t work all the time for 2FA from specifically banks.

Maybe it’s different for numbers originally attached to mobile phones that are ported into Google Voice vs. numbers that are natively set up with Google Voice.

Thanks. I see it's U$S 10 a month. I'd prefer a service that charged only as it's used but maybe this is the best option.
That $10 per month is one of google’s business plan. Google Workspace. It is free for people. Just add it, assuming that you already have Gmail. If not you should sign up for that first, It is free. You need to prove you have another USA phone number, or can borrow one from friends or family only during the setup procedure.

Yes, true some banks and others (like the IRS) do not accept for 2FA. The OP question was about calling. If you only need occasional 2FA to your bank then there are other options for a pay per use to solve that problem. Still no reason to not use google voice for free for everything else.

I use google fi which cost 2.7 cents per hour. They have a simple system to pause and resume for when you need it. I turn it on for one hour, do my monthly or weekly 2FA banking, and then I pause it again. All from my computer without needing a phone, Approximately $0.10 per month,

I use DialHard and have been very happy with the cost and lowfi experience. The developer has been very attentive with feedback and it's my go to now.
