An Unpredictable Expat Locale

I agree Mostly good and realistic. As someone who came in 1979 before the term expat was heard here I would make a few comments. 1) Rather than "suffer a debt default",Argentina "carried out" yet another one.Their 1st default goes back to Baring Brothers in the 1890s.2) Exxon-Mobil - clients of mine from 1982.'til 2001- presently only exists here in the upstream-exploration and extraction end of the oil business. They sold the downstream end- gas stations, maritime and jet fuel refining and sales-to the Buglieroni Brothers about 14 years ago.I doubt if they would be hiring any expats who contact them locally.3) On the comment that it is hard to make Argentine friends.I find that to be generally true.Argies are less open and frank than some other Latins .The advice to get involved with them in work, sports and other intellectual activities is very good. Now that I am retired I belong to at least 4 Meet Up groups in Spanish and English and I'm making lots of new Argentine friends.
