Any Advice On Getting An Mri In Buenos Aires?

Obama care knee ACA can go to oblivion. If I was to be enrolling via ACA, then my insurance had to go over US$1k a month!
Luckily that the S.S. put me under temp disability and also reaching my Old Anciano age limit, then my Kaiser Permanente health
premium went down to US$84 bucks a month!

Have you had good experiences in Argentina though?

Odd, that eight million other people were able to sign up easily, with thousands more doing so every day, and you could not.

Progress is being made every day comrade! Our 5 year plan is working splendidly!! Butter production is up 560%%!!
You know what you sound like ...
But yes it's odd! I'm obviously lying about my experiences (or I'm insane, unclear which), as are so many others, just to make Obama look bad! I'm a dastardly subverter! Thankfully you're here to show me!
(Your figures are way off btw; millions lost coverage, and some signed up after; some estimates are that over 75% of "new" members already had insurance and just had to resign; also there's mounting evidence that many are not paying.)
Should you remain in Argentina, your porteño shrink should be able to prescribe the appropriate anxiety medications. I would hope you'll understand the dosage instructions.

Yes comrade. I question Obomacare so I must obviously be insane and need to be interned in a state psychiatric facility immediately under armed guard. I'm well aware that there are those in the US who think like you, and like good Stalinists, believe political disagreement is a sign of "mental illness."

I don't know if you realize how ridiculous you've made yourself. This wasn't even a political thread. I just want info. on Argentina and I related my terrible experiences with US healthcare, which are hardly unique. You come in here to stomp for your favorite crooked politicians and froth at the mouth about how I must obviously be an evil subverter who should be put in the psychiatric ward for not having had great things to report about the USA system.

By the looks of this forum the BAexpats, me not set foot there yet but my hunch is that will be enjoying the good experience in Argentina soon.

Do you mean about Buenos Aires in general or about healthcare there? So far on this thread and elsewhere I see only good things reported about getting health insurance, seeing a doctor, etc., in Argentina.

Hi I think I have a back injury and would like to know if anyone has a recommendation for a good place to get an MRI in Buenos Aires, and what I might expect to have to pay for this.

Also can anyone recommend a good orthopedist or doctor who treats spinal injuries.

Many thanks!

A decade ago, at a time when it was virtually impossible for a self-employed person to get health insurance in the US, I had an MRI on my shoulder at the Fleni in Belgrano. Over the counter, it cost me about US$100 and, since prices here have remained so stable, it can't possibly have risen.

Sanatorio otamendi seems to be the best option, they can give you an appointment for the same day (am hours before sunrise) if you are in a hurry. They charged me 1600 pesos for an MRI of the knee, the same was quoted for 3800 usd at SOBE públic hospital.

I injured my back in a car accident in New Zealand many years ago. I've had treatment in Japan, S Korea, and the US. Finding someone competent who can provide helpful diagnostic and rehab advice for back problems takes time and work. What I now do is to ask for the best spine doctor around, then have them send me to the best back physical therapist or accupuncturist around, then ask that therapist for a referral to the best back doctor in that area. The therapists and nurses know who the best surgeons are and who the best non-surgical back doctors (physiatrists) are because they get to do the rehab with their patients. Jeff Saal is the best physiatrist I've found. He was practicing at SOAR in the California Bay Area when I saw him. Worth reading his papers.

Now in BsAs for a few years, I have had routine testing including mri, sonogram, ekg etc, done at Otameni and IADT here - both very good for testing. No delays in getting appointments. Very efficient check in and check out at these two places. Prices in USD exchange terms for medical services have actually been stable for the past few years here in my experience. And I have seen no copayments with my Medicus insurance and no authorization process voodo to delay anything - not one thing.

To return to the topic of the thread, I'd really appreciate more info. or reassurance from others regarding MRI costs and /or healthcare costs in Argentina, plus the ease of signing up. The reason I ask is that I'm a bit paranoid after my experiences in the US. My mom is the one insisting I get health insurance and if I tell her that it's totally easy and straightforward in Argentina I know she will be a lot more at ease.

Thanks in advance!

The medical system in Argentina is much easier and much less expensive than the US. The doctors are generally good, from my experience, and the private facilities are generally nice. Now if you need some very specialized treatment (such as a rare disease) the healthcare may be better in the US if you have a good doctor, but there are plenty of bad doctors in the US, too. Bad things can happen anywhere.

Do get insurance. The public (free) healthcare system can be questionable. Signing up is easy especially if you have no pre-existing conditions. So far the private healthcare system here has treated me and my family here well.

Have you (hybrid ambassador) had good experiences in Argentina though?

Well, he has yet to visit Argentina. But he is a highly experienced forum member here! But please don't ask him embarassing questions, for which he has no answer!
