Any Advice On Getting An Mri In Buenos Aires?

Hi Sher, it is great if it is incorrect, but when I went to inquiry about a month ago (at their office in Once) they were fine with just the passport but she said that they didn't accept cash, and that I should ask a friend with a bank account here to do the transfers for me. Maybe that was specific to that office? Or maybe I got it wrong, which is quite possible. Definitely makes it a lot easier for those of us without local bank accounts when we can pay in cash!

I have always gone to the office on Santa Fe and Billinghurst. It is always busy, but they actually seem to move quite quickly there. I had to visit them to arrange the redelivery of my health insurance card when I wasn't home to sign for it the first time. They were very friendly and the card arrived within a few days. It has been the most straightforward and quickest process that I have experienced when signing up for health insurance anywhere. I have been to that office about four times and the experience has always been the same. Probably one of my best customer service experiences in Buenos Aires so far.

Always pesos. I have no idea how much does a MRI costs. When you have the insurance is all inclusive.
The cost i mentioned is not accurate, you should show up there.

Bajo Cero, I pay my Swiss Medical bill in cash at one of their offices. Most of their offices accept cash.

At hospital alemán they stop receiving cash less than a year ago. They told me it was because afip. Do you pay less than 1000?

So might be interesting for people to know that in "capitalist" USA you are not allowed to buy health insurance. That's right guys, I've just been informed by the helpful Obamacare people that the top-of-the-line, expensive insurance I bought for the last two months (which I didn't even want, family was forcing me to buy it) will be canceled because apparently no amount of documentation I send is enough. They took several weeks to even "receive" a fax I sent them. I spent hours on the phone talking with half-retarded people who wasted my time and misinformed me.

By contrast in "socialist" Argentina you can buy health insurance the next day apparently. And good quality too, from what I know about it. Something to think about.

Please check the many recent threads on OSDE, and health insurance for more info. You can have your health insurance payments automatically debited fom a credit or debit card, including foreign ones. Altho it would be at the official rate.
You will need to see a doctor before you'll be able to get your MRI done. It requires a doctors prescription. Hope you feel better soon.

No it's not. It's a state with an exchange, and a blue and very liberal state in the northeast. The problem is the Obamacare law, it makes it illegal for people to buy health insurance at this time.

The insurance company allowed me to buy (private, unsubsidized, top of the line) health insurance, it's the people working at the exchange who are now canceling it because I didn't provide documents to their satisfaction (note: I provided 4 rounds of documents but it's still not enough for them).
