I just moved here and am sad there doesn't seem to be a Crossfit here (crossfit.com). Does anybody know if there is something similar here? Ie, is there a gym without a bunch of treadmills and silly machines and no space?

Crossfit is:

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.

Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.

The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our terrorist hunters, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.

If anyone wants to set up a cross fit meeting, send me an email ([email protected]) or a facebook message (chris dawson, Richmond VA). I have classes in the afternoon but I'm already missing real exercise.

I'm actually really interested in this. I am flying out tomorrow but will be back in about a month. If anyone finds a place, please let me know.

This is the place I was going to in Las Canitas that also had Muay Thai,, Sambo and Brazilian Jui Jitsu classes.

Good luck in your search and keep us posted.

I really like the Insanity workouts, although I use to use Cross Fit just to mix it up a bit. I'm out in the suburbs - if you ever are out this way send me a message.

Any of you folks still interested in Crossfit or similar? I just got here on Thursday and I'm desperate to keep up a good fitness routine to avoid turning to jelly. Did a nice dumbbell complex in the hotel gym yesterday but I'd rather have some company the next time.

Dear Everyone,

There is CrossFit in Buenos Aires. In fact, if you go to Crossfit.com and search for an affiliate in Argentina, you will now find CrossFit Buenos Aires.

My name is Max Rodman, my local number in Argentina is 11 4166 7681, and my email is [email protected]. CrossFit Buenos Aires is official and affiliated. We are currently building the website (hope to have it completed within a week or two). We are also currently working on opening our space. We have all the tools for the gym, and we are currently in a battle to get the space "habilitado" - basically legally approved as a gym. Trust me, we want to get the space open as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we are running workouts in Bosques de Palermo every day at 6:30 pm. We meet at the corner of Infanta Isabel y Libertador (check on mapa.buenosaires.gov.ar if you need to) at 6:15, and then will move to the spot to workout by 6:30. We generally have about 10 - 20 people all crossfitting together, so please come join!

Search for us on facebook, the group is called Crossfit Buenos Aires, and you can see more information there. If you like, send me an email or call me and I would be happy to give you more info.

Looking forward to seeing everyone,
Max

Thanks Max, that's great news. Might join you one of these days if you've space for one more!

Hey Guys - Did the gym ever get off the ground and does anybody have any reviews? I'd love to come workout if it is up and running...

Let me know!
-Mark
