Argentina Has The 3Rd Lowest Murder Rate In Latin America

As much as I share the dislike for several actions of the CIA, blaming the murder rates on them is very naive... Also the last statement about K "meaning well": how do you back it up? Has it to do with her (and her husbands) extreme increase of personal wealth which cannot be explained by her official income? Is it by making policies that don't control inflation and thus hit the poorer people the most? Or is it to enable people to buy US$ - but only if you belong at least to the upper-middle part of the society?

(above quote edited for brevity)

Note please that your statement and mine are not mutually exclusive. Maduro is an idiot, and Chavez wasn't that much smarter. There are no good guys in this one.

Be thankful that in Argentina we have a Presidenta who at least means well, however much we may disagree on her methods of attempting to translate those good intentions into reality.

I don't think she means anything, except to perpetuate her faction of Peronism in power.

Chile has a national police force that is highly respected by all sectors of society (except, of course, lawbreakers). Unlike Argentine police, they actually stop speeding motorists and give them tickets.

People actually use the traffic lanes in Santiago. Its really quite amazing compared to Buenos Aires.

Chile got it's shit together and as I've said before, as soon as it completes universal health care and education the HDI is going to rival many EU states (I think it might already be, can't remember at the too if my head). Chile has taken Argentina's place as safest/most developing country in South America.

Regarding murder rates, I have two points: has La Nacion been forced to use INDEC/government stats? Secondly, I can only speak for myself, but my fear and anxiety is over robbings, assault and theft.

What's happening in Venezuela regarding the murder rates isn't related to the CIA. Do they want to see Maduro gone? Yes. Do I want to see him gone? Yes (but because he is a cancer to the word socialism and an authoritarian, but I think Venezuelans need to do it themselves).

I think people give the CIA too much credit. How can the same group so many people credit assassinations, regime changes and undermining to not even see threats to our own nation. This isn't to say they haven't and don't do the things mentioned, but I simply don't get the impression they want to be/are behind so many of the issues South American states face today.

I'd still rather not drive in Santiago, where making a left turn is almost impossible. I own a Chilean car, but when I'm in the city I leave it parked and use public transportation.

Yeah right. let's just remember that the source of those numbers are the governments, and in the case of Cuba, no one can fly there and audit/validate their stats.

Then why dont Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, etc just simply lie and put themselves above Cuba?

Cuba a police state?!?!?!?!?!?

Depends on the point of view. Obviously many people from UBA would see it as a full democracy. I am a little old fashioned, reactionary type of guy, so i think that the lack of habeas corpus and freedom of the press tend to characterize police states. But that is me.
