Argentina on the cusp of hyperinflation

I think gold has its downsides as well. Nassim Taleb explains in the first 30 seconds of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQ2otZqmNKE , how central banks will dump their gold if things get really bad, which wouldn't be good for holders of the commodity obviously.

Just watching the 'Smoke & Mirrors' show starting crank up & go into full gear.
Tomorrow the IMF is coming to town to sniff around & look deeper into the "10%" Inflation problems in Argentina but looking at the international headlines being made by the K regime we can see they are already one step ahead of the game:

Malvinas are Argentine for ever and “we will never yield in our claim”
http://en.mercopress.com/2011/04/02...for-ever-and-we-will-never-yield-in-our-claim

We can expect too see a lot of fanfare around the Malvinas while the IMF is here.

While headlines like the one bellow will most likely be ignored or overlooked.

Argentina's inflation rate: High, but just how high?

At the end of the day, for a population who's education level is diminishing daily, the Regime will try & capitalize on the ignorance of the less informed masses -grouping together the IMF & the Malvinas in newspaper headlines as a negative propaganda campaign against Argentina by foreign "Capitalist Forces".

Gee, you covered a lot of stuff there. Shouldn't it be another thread?

I understand but I'm just making the point about the 'distraction' tactics around the subject of inflation only...not the subject of the Malvinas itself.

Is this not relevant to this thread?

EDIT: My point being, there's an 'economic fire' in the basement & so far the country is ignoring the smoke - the question must sometimes be ,how is it that a population's attention can so easily be diverted from the fact?

How do have they got away with it so far? Why aren't we doing Cacerolazos by now?

There is nothing wrong with what you are saying. I'm just saying given the examples you have mentioned,.. well, all could be threads. Example: " My point being, there's an ( fill-in-the-blank ) fire in the basement & so the question must sometimes be -how is it that a population's attention can so easily be diverted from the fact?"

Thank you , you're right...yes they could all be different threads on their own...the dynamics in politics, finance, sociology, media etc etc all interplaying in the one moment, it's hard to stay on the one track with it all.

It's the 2nd of April, that's why you're seeing these articles in the newspaper. It's not a distraction, it's just populism.

Classic misdirection techniques at work here - but it only works (just like in Australia) if the sheeple majority are ignorant and uninformed enough (and brainwashed enough) for it to work - while I can comment on the ''intelligence'' (or lack thereof) of the average voter back home (um, Kommisar Gillard is still in power there lol ;) ) I haven't been here long enough to know if the average voter here is that dumb or not - from what I can see so far they still do quite a few things right here (for example they still have a manufacturing base here, they still produce their own food, etc. - something Australia is falling way behind in - and that will end up biting us on the bum in the future...
