Pathologizing a behavior such as flying may be stretching the addiction analogy a little too far. It’s hard to see what the actual object of the actual addiction might be. It could be the anticipation associated with visiting somewhere new. If so, it's probably from a purely motivational view rather than from an addiction perspective.Would it really kill us to stay on tierra firma a while longer?
One of the reasons for this disaster is that, without really noticing it, we had become addicted to air travel. Boarding a plane and flying half a hemisphere had become as natural as getting on a bus and travelling to the next town once was.
Perhaps some of us need to get somewhere overseas for legal, or family, or business reasons. But if we are just responding to our flight addiction, there has never been a better time to treat that addiction.
If the sole decision for this is cases here in Argentina then I cannot see regular flights resuming until next year.. The case numbers have not even flattened here and are still going up.It's now all but certain regular comercial flights will NOT resume as of September 1. Expect the official announcement on Wednesday, 12 August. There will be "special" flights as there are now. Frequency and/or destinations might change -- there will be weekly flights to 2xMadrid, Paris, Amsterdam, Miami, NYC and possibly more. Citizens and residents can fly subject to 14 day quarantine at arrival in AR.

I agree with dsp27's rationale. I foresee regular flights being allowed by the 1st week in November. If the sole decision for this is cases here in Argentina then I cannot see regular flights resuming until next year.. The case numbers have not even flattened here and are still going up.
Epidemiologically, economically and so on makes little sense to ban all flights at this stage. Do you think Europeans are stupid or irresponsible? No. Flights operate with the proper protocols and when needed PCR testing and quarantines are in place. What you see in Argentina is political paralysis based on unwillingness to make decisions out of fear. What is often done is not the logical but the politically and socially convenient/acceptable. That's why exercising and running was not allowed for such a long time. Any action seen as benefiting the upper class/ los chetos/ the ones that workout and fly is politically inconvenient for this "popular" government. Never mind most of the cases are in those same 'barrios populares' aka villas that are the product of institutional neglect for decades.
