Aha...it does not have anything to do with what I wrote, but you are claiming that colonial powers invested huge sums of money, built thousands of ships, started a huge number of wars and sacrificed millions of their own citizens for...nothing? For helping the natives of the colonies? Come on! Having colonies was one of the best business in history, a cheap source of raw materials and labour. As an 'expert' for economics, as you claim to be, try reading some more history.

No, I am not providing any excuse for slavery in any form, only provided that as an example to show how one-sided lies and history (like, "blame the white man for slavery" and "Western countries all got rich off of poorer countries", the latter doesn't even make sense) take root in people with feeble minds like you (I don't know you, just judging your by your posts here).

Only idiots think that others would INVEST money (know your terms before you write) anywhere so they don't get jack out of it! I provided the British Empire as an example of a Colonial power that profited from its colonies, however, like I said before (but it must have escaped your narrow mine), it does not mean all Western countries got rich off of poorer countries' resources.

Hey I am a Socialist (a free market socialist, btw) and I am not ignorant! So in one sentence I destroyed an argument (hehe). We are a young democracy, and most of us are enjoying it, thank you very much. I know that for those economists that still believe in the axioms of marginal theory and the neo-Keynesian "samuelsonism" this government is nothing short of the Devil himself, but for those of us that consider other theories to be more valid (even in neo-classic terms, like the discussion of Lange about the possibility of a economy of coops), this administration is taking interesting steps (like the change in the Central Bank). Neocons sided with Friedman (and Mankiew horrific introductory text to Economics) and they lost, I side with Lange, Vanek, Veblen, Galbraith and sometimes Krugman. We will see.

Here's my go:

Colonialism disrupted the economic models which had been developed in America.

Immigration and with it, plagues, decimated the rightful owners of the land we stand on.

Spanish colonialism dictated the structure of the new social and economic order.

Once independent, this social framework that had been in place for centuries found itself overnight facing the challenges of Anglo-Saxon liberalism. Value structures do not shift that fast, nor were these changes endogenous to Argentine society. They were, once again, imported.

This formula was not successfully implemented on a population, but concentrated on the few benefiting elites. The agro-exporting model was the basis of Argentine splendour during the early XX century. For a few.

The model was interrupted by two European wars. Modernisation efforts followed to renew the state and economy in the absence of the "buyers and providers". This was partially successful, until it wasn't convenient to the "buyers and providers".

A wave of financialization and privatization tumbled whatever industrial and social progress had been made.

There were a few Coup d'etat, a terrorizing internal war and decades of economic mishandling from then on. Nothing serious.
