Argentine bank account - without DNI

I can tell you that you cannot open an account at Rio Santander or Banco Galicia without a DNI. My wife and I tried both when we first arrived here in BA and we gave up after being rejected by those two banks. When we finally got a DNI, we opened our account with Rio Santander. That bank is so bad, their policies may differ from branch to branch. Who knows? You may find a branch that will accept a passport as ID in lieu of a DNI.
