Would any member of this board (Admin or otherwise) happen to have knowledge of website law here in Argentina? According to one source of mine websites pointing domestically need to be registered here even if the hosting isn’t ? Is there any difference in terms of launching a site elsewhere in the world to here.........odd if there is! Something to do with registering the copy from my understanding???

At a bit of a loss here, any knowledge on this subject would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.:)

There is no law, or regulation, requiring to register websites. You can use a TLD, or another countries ccTLD, hosted anywhere in the world, without any local registration.

If you will receive any kind of income from your website, you are liable for taxes in Argentina. If the website is owned/operated by a company, that company should be registered in Argentina.

For intellectual property reasons, you might want to register your website. However, that is not mandatory.

If you want to accept credit cards, you may need to register here to have a merchant account that accepts credit cards in Argentina.

Groupon just launched and since it is based overseas charges in dollars, which is causing a bit of an uproar among Argentines who are not used to seeing dollar charges (though converted to local amounts) on their credit card statements.
