Argentum: Congressman proposes new currency to replace the peso

What a great name!!! So great that it has already been adopted by an international metals business, a retirement living trade association and, with a lower case "g" crowded out by capitals, a perfume and fragrance company. And possibly more: I stopped looking after three. I only started looking because in the back of my mind I thought it was a brand of wine but I didn't turn up that variation on the first search page.

It just makes sense. We've been through the same in the past with different currency names. We don't need all the useless zeros.

Italy managed with useless zeros for a long time, Chile still does.

The country that strips off useless zeros the most is Venezuela :) Or maybe Zimbabwe, not sure about that, now that I think about it.

I remember a roll of toilet paper costing over a million pesos at the time we converted pesos moneda nacional to pesos ley 18.888; it was even difficult to use calculators, I hope nobody finds that normal

This was in the 1970s? More context would be appreciated, thank you, I’m having a hard time finding out what this was about.
