If he does (big IF), and he removes the cepo, what do you think will happen?

(By the way, the cuevas and arbolitos existed long before the cepo. Don't you remember the "cambio, cambio" chants from long ago? There were arbolitos in Florida when I first came here in 2004, offering 3 or 4 cents more than the banks. In any case, how would anyone launder their money here without the cuevas and arbolitos?)

Excuse meee, but the exact definition of MONOPOLY is "one and only seller" from the Latin word mono meaning one and the Greek word polis meaning city.
That means a monopolist is the only seller in the city. As far as I know, there are plenty of newspapers in the city´s stands. Pls do not parrot the government party line "EL RELATO"

Well, the government actually never referred to Grupo Clarín's premier national publication as a monopoly. I suggest you read up on the "Ley de Medios AUDIOVISUALES."

If Scioli doesn't win in the first round

In general to reverse the current macroeconomic trend and generate investors confidence will take more time than Macri, Massa tend to believe, Foreign dollar investments will be slow to come in since Hedge and Pension funds are retreating from developing countries. Energy projects will not materialize with the dropping oil prices scenario. First must reach an agreement with the Vulture Funds. The yield on Dollar denominated Foreign Bonds issued by Argentina, will not be as low as obtained by other LATAM countries. Thus 2016 may be a transition year and somehow disappointing.

If the Cepo is removed the OFFICIAL dollar will reach $12,50 in January 2016 after a 30 % devaluation. If the dollar is allowed to fluctuate freely it may generate a stampede to buy dollars , if the public is buying $500 MM a month of Dollar Ahorro NOW will this amount double?? Dollar purchases however will require AFIP approval and some restrictions on amounts, Yes there will be Cuevas, for the laundered money to go through them. The Blue will be from $18 to $20.


Inflation will go higher in 2016 over 30% due to increase in import prices translated to consumer prices. Exports of regional products and soya beans will soar in the short run....!

μόνος = monos (alone or single) +polein πωλεῖν (to sell)

A monopoly (from Greek ) exists when a specific person or enterprise is the only supplier of a particular commodity

The central bank (BCRA) has just increased the capital on deposit that a 'casa de cambio' needs to operate up to ar$12m (depending on location/ size etc) and intermediaries from ar$10000 to 1M.
Many will close, certainly.
When will all this ever end?
