Banks To Strike Throughout The Week In Argentina

You betcha!
It was super "work-to -rule " at Ctibank/Banco de Santander Calle Florida this noon. The machime that gives out teller #s kept running out of paper.
About 11:45 customers started asking one another,"Pararan a las 12.?"..Will they stop working at 12?
I was near panic as I had no pesos left and had to do my Dec. peso hoard
When your # finally appeared on the screen and got to the counter it was "slow motion city" with all kinds of phony excuses.
I was near panic as I thought that there was some new hassle with withdrawing USD with Banco de Santander instead of Citibank
Shades of the default days of 2001.Foreboding is the word. When I got to my "cueva" and a whole mess of new AR$ 500 biills ,I calmed down.
However, the taxi ride home was problematic for the first time in years. The "tachero"-- cabbie went super slow and was letting too many cars tun ahead of him at cross streets.
I almost wished I had called UBER. Gotta hate that Banking Union!

Noesdeayer.....glad your "banking" got sort it out. Uber may just be the only way to go!

Somewhereinba....Today the ATM at ICBC Caballito delivered my first set of $500 peso bills... 4 + 4 $100 peso notes.

Banco Supervielle (affiliated w/Banelco) is NOT one of the banks that adhered to the strike TODAY between the hours of 12 noon and 3.00pm. I have a local account with that entity. Having said that, who knows if said status will change for tomorrow or next Monday.
