I'm planning my first run out to barrio chino and don't really know what to expect. Can any of you offer suggestions for....

1) Dim sum. Does it even exist? If so, which place is best?

2) Tofu. Best place to buy.

3) A restaurant for lunch.

4) Anything else you think would be good to know. :)

THANKS!!

Don t expect too much, it is tiny if you compare it with NYC China Town. It is a good place to buy fresh salmon and seafood, Siracha, etc.

1) They have it at Palitos.

3) Palitos or the one that is at the corner of Mendoza.

Have fun!

my favorite chinatown restaurant is cisne blanco on arribeños

Lost Asian has steered my to the best Asian restaurants too. Hong Kong Style in barrio Chino has decent dim sum but go early, they run out.

My Taiwanese friend recommended Hongtu on Montaneses for dim sum. Also you can get all kinds of tofu, soy milk and rice milk at Defu, right on Arribenos near Mendoza. Ask about the soy/rice milk, you can get unsweetened or heavily sweetened soy milk. The rice milk is made with peanuts (?) but I like better than soy.
