You won't belive this but...........An American guy (US) told me that he thought Benny Hill was a satirical comedian.

Why not? It might add to the sum of human understanding. If one were to discover that there are other, more subtle, interpretations of what considers the intellectual norm then I can only consider that a good thing.

Benny Hill - loved in almost all Spanish speaking countries.

Me neither, it can only be the result of a misunderstanding........
 
He was also very famous & popular in France, but so was also the actor Jerry Lewis and is Woody Allen. Go figure..;-p

I thought the guy was a genius. Tremendous slapstick coupled with wonderful mimicry and use of language. The babes didn't hurt either. I see his old shows every now and then on local tv. My favorite skits were when he plays the asshole waiter who abuses the patrons at the restaurant. Sublime.
