Best Cellular Company

Hi All,

I know this has been covered many times in the past but it is a moving target. I am a long time tourist so will need a pay as you go plan in a couple of weeks. So....

1. Which company is best in your opinion?

2. Which company, if any, offers the $1AR per day internet?

3. How much for a local call?

Claro offers internet for 1 peso/day. I cant remember other but I think it might be other too.
To me the best is Movistar.

Movistar seems to be the least...frustrating. I also get the 1 peso per day but I might end up not getting even enough coverage for Edge when I need it the most. I have no idea how bad it can get with the other companies, personal in particular.

There is no "best" telco in Argentina. Asking for which telco to use is akin of asking which one is less painful, being burned alive or being skinned alive. You can't go wrong whatever choice you make. They all suck.

Supposedly Movistar is better for calls, and Claro better for data. But's it's still pretty much all bad.

It also depends if you're going to use your cell phone for calls or for internet. Some companies almost have nil reception in certain areas of the city.

Be careful. if you chose 2 different companies you ll loose free calls. In Movistar you can have up to 3 numbers to talk totally free (only if they re Movistar).

Matias, thanks for the tip about the free numbers.
I just registered my wife's number as we're both prepago and on Movistar, but it says i can only register one number.
Are you sure it's three?

Not sure, I think it varies according the plan. I know people who have up to 5, people who have 4.
