best facturas in BA?

The Patisserie Francaise on Malabia between Güemes and Charcas has interesting facturas. They're something between Argentine facturas and French croissants - less sweet and a little lighter than the typical factura but still sweeter and less flaky than the best croissants in France.

My favorites are the pain au chocolate and the facturas with crema pastelera. On weekends they also make little garlands with almond paste and almond slices that are to die for. There are always raisin buns as well, and a few other flavors.

Also unusual sandwich de miga fillings - pastrami and pickles, smoked turkey and gouda, for example - and always an excellent tarte tatin.

Prices are a little higher than at your typical corner panadería but considerably less than at the takeout shop at La Bourgogne in the Alvear (mentioned above). Note that the Patisserie Francaise doesn't bake bread - just pastries, facturas, and bombones.

Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions! Looks like I will have a factura odyssey this weekend.

For those who are interested, I will be posting the finished piece on my blog early next week. Will update when it's ready!

Best,
Allison

I don't know the best place but La Nueva Dorrego in Chacarita is quite good in my opinion. Dorrego between Lemos and Guevara.
