Best US Debit Card (Not credit Card) to use in Buenos Aires?

im sorry to hear what is happening to you. I know from a computer-geek friend of mine, that there are applications that show an IP address from a different country that the one where you are. Perhaps some geek can help you out to resolve this delicate and urgent situation from Buenos Aires soon. Good luck!

I would say, go with a US proxy(PM if need help) and reapply online.

Wow, didn't relise US banking was so good. We have non charging abroad accounts in the UK but they don't refund those 16peso fees. Would be great to avoid that some day.

I won't be in the States again until the summer, unfortunately, but will need this account very soon. I think I will wait a few days, hop on a proxy server and reapply online (with the idea that I don't set off a flag again) and have my family ship the materials to me after they arrive at my home in the States.

I think this is your best bet... I use a proxy all the time now for shopping, etc.

This is off topic but would you give some details about how to do a proxy or point me to the information. Thank you.

I use StrongVPN and think it works just great - it is not free but you sometimes get what you pay for, and it's not that pricey. www.strongvpn.com

A proxy server to spoof your IP is definitely the way to go. I would recommend paying for a private one though for security purposes, as you don't want your banking info to be at risk.

Only on line (no Schwab branch in Argentina)and you will need a US address.

You will first open a Charles Schwab brokerage account and then a checking account can be set up with the debit card.

(You never have to buy anything or make any investments.)

If you are not a US-citizen, then the Schwab checking account needs a paper form with signature to open the checking account. Online signature only works for US-citizens.

Schwab is exceptional. Another example of this, Schwab 24x7 answers the support phone w/ a US rep speaking English. The rest of US Banks, e.g. Citi, I get a call center somewhere in Asia some EST hours reading from a call center script that does not cover my situation.
