Bottle Deposits ?

How does this work? Do all stores do it?

I hadn't noticed there was a charge until I included a bottle of beer with just a few items. The 3 peso charge really stuck out.

What do you do? Keep the receipt and then go back with the receipt and the bottle to get your 3 pesos back?

Its called the envase--the fee is for the bottle and you have two options: return the bottle in exchange for a full one, or bring a receipt back and get your money back when you return the bottle. Some stores are more uptight than others re: acceptance of different bottles for different brands, etc.

ETA: Oh yeah, and ALL stores do it! However, you can be a "non-retornable" bottle and toss it after, but they're more expensive if you're going to be drinking more than a couple of beers
