How much does it cost to renew your car registration every year? I saw a source that says it's usually about 6 percent of the value of your vehicle???? Surely, that can't be correct.

What is it that puts you off?

Remember, if you’re resident here, even to rent a car I believe you’ll need an Argentinian driving license, which is a much bigger headache.

Depends if it is imported or industria Argentina and how old the car is.
Think it’s 1.5% for industria argentina and 2% for imported.

The 6% you refer to is the first patentamiento to get the vehicle on the road for a new car (0km)
But think it’s more like 4.5 to 5%.
This is the 2% of the value of the vehicle plus various fees and charges.

You pay the 1.5 to 2% of the value of the car yearly until it’s 10 years old and then the patente transfers to the municipality and you pay much less.
