Hi all. My permanent residency application is officially taking too long and I'd like to prepare and submit a carta de pronto despacho. However, I'm not sure exactly what it is or how to submit - is it a letter, like the name indicates, or is it a form that I would request and fill out at Migraciones? And once I have the document prepared, how do I actually submit it to Migraciones? Do I submit it like any other document that goes into my expediente or is there a separate process? Thanks in advance.

I'll chime in with what is probably very outdated information, for what it may be worth. I was advised in 2019 by a staff member at Avenida Antartica to attempt this magic trick in respect of a 10-month's inert precaria that was trying without success to turn itself into a temporary residency. It was a hard-copy form to be completed and lodged at a separate counter. Rather than handwrite it, I took the form home, made a Word document in the same format and carefully typed up the reasoning in the section "MOTIVOS". I returned and handed the printed version over the counter, had it registered, and bade it a hopeful farewell. I never heard from it again. Covid hit not long after, and there was no movement on my precaria for another two years..., so it worked a treat. Perhaps the system is different now, and you will get a better result.

I found this model of a carta de pronto despacho: https://www.scribd.com/document/825230816/Pronto-despacho-MIGRACIONES

However, when I had occasion to have something like this sent on my behalf it was an acción de amparo por mora de administración, which was a multi-page letter spelling out how their delay was causing me a problem. Here's an example of one of those that Google turned up: https://www.scribd.com/document/638322361/NASONOV-amparo-por-mora

I'm very much not a lawyer, so I have no answers for you about how to write one of those or whether you can file it yourself, how, etc..

Thanks for the links and response - I had seen some template letters, but none as specific as those. My understanding is that I can only submit an amparo por mora after having tried the administrative process of carta de pronto despacho first. Did you do so?

Update for anyone who sees this: as of today (2026-11-06):

The process is to go to Migraciones (if you're in CABA, the Sede Central) to the Mesa de Entradas, and then ask for the form to solicit the pronto despacho. The form asks for some basic identifying information (name, DOB, address, expediente number etc) and then there is a section to write your motivos for making the request. You can bring a letter and the clerk will write in this section to see the attached letter. So, essentially what Alby described above.

At least in CABA, there aren't many spots for the mesa de entrada and you can't schedule an appointment for the Sede Central, so you have to show up as early as possible and hope that the check-in guy at the touch screen will give you a number. On a prior visit, this same guy told me they give out about 40 daily spots. I showed up at 6:45a before Migraciones opened around 8a. About 20 people ahead of me in line and by the time the line started moving there were probably 150 people behind me. Finally out by 9:45a.
