CEPO is lifted

It’s MEP minus 7%. It hasn’t been official in two years. That said, the difference between MEP and official is roughly 7 pesos per dollar now.

Visa and Mastercard apply it at point of sale, AMEX will refund the difference in a week or two.
There are compare and vents MEP rates. Which one applies? From that you subtract 7 pesos? Do foreign Mastercard/Visa and Amex give same rates?

Wow Big news supermarkets rejected new price lists with a 9 % an 12 % increases . Four monopolistic suppliers control the offer Molinos, Unilever and a few others.
Same thing happened about 9 months ago when prices started to really go nuts, supermarkets said they’d fight it. After a month slowly the price increases get quietly accepted and happen anyway … it makes for a great headline for the supermarkets but don’t count on it following through

A news media mentioned that the Supermarket suppliers hadn't sent a new price list. Claimed it Was all a creation of the army of Government trolls.....!

And all the while prices in pesos are going up, the dollar has dropped about 6% today. Ridiculous.
Agree! I won't come back to Argentina for another 2 weeks and when I do prices will be 30 - 40% more expensive (in dollar term and peso inflation) than when I have left in late March. I am currently in the United States and see than there are many more items in the grocery shop that are now equal in price or cheaper than Argentina's. I don't say that it is cheaper to live in the States than in Argentina, but the difference is eroding faster.

Argentina is more expensive than australia for food furniture clothing and most items . The only thing cheaper here are rentals of property but this is eroding also very fast . A simple asian meal in buenos aires with one appetiser and one main course can easily be now US$ 35 . I remember hosting expat dinners many many years ago and they were US$ 5 per person for like a buffet of food to choose from ( and people complained that it was expensive back then lol )
