Changing Pesos To Dollars In Colonia - Info Needed!

Hi everyone,

So I need to change a pretty large amount of pesos back to dollars ASAP and I've heard I can do this at some casas de cambio in Colonia, Uruguay. Does anyone know if this is true and what the exchange rate would be? I'm having a hard time finding current info about this online! Any info is appreciated!!

Exchange rate = (not good in Uruguay, probably 9.20 ).
Your best bet is sell the pesos to people on this board, depending where you want the USD.

Ah, that is horrible. I find it unbelievable that I can't change pesos back to dollars at the official rate!

Then I guess if anyone has dollars and needs pesos and would be able to exchange for close to the official rate... let me know!

Why do you find that unbelievable? If you could just change pesos to dollars at the official rate, there would be no blue rate.

Ha ha well seeing as I've been here for 1 week so far, this is all new to me. In every other country I've ever been to there is no such thing as a blue rate. You change your money to that country's currency and that's that.
Only asking for help/info on this issue... snide comments aren't necessary.

Amcastilone - there are no snide comments .....

The official exchange rate does not exist - the blue rate is the only one that is used for exchange on a day to day basis Even of you are selling dollars to close family , it is generally accepted that the blue rate is the guide to go by.
