Charity Work Ideas

We do a lot of work with Techo and it is an organization encouraging social consciousness through both fundraising and actual volunteering for builds. http://www.techo.org/es/

I had a similar question--had heard good things about conviven ( but when I contacted them I got no reply). i'm totally bilingual, am a trained teacher, and i have a free day every week that i'd love to use volunteering with children or women's issues, I would be super happy to commit long term (years), if the organization was a good fit. i'm looking through the organizations mentioned above, but If anyone knows of a good place (can be small or large) please give me a head's up.

This is a wonderful organization here in Cap Fed. They have a soup kitchen, showers, clothes, classes, workshops, psychological and medical help, etc.
Really stellar place. It is a Catholic organization, but it is not overly religious. Nothing too pushy. The Jesuits are their sponsor, so that tells you a bit.
The Obra also has works outside of the city including an orphanage.
(This is a great place to donate clothes, toys, household things if anyone ever does a clean out).
