ANy ideas on cheapest way to get from Colombia (or Ecuador) to Argentina...Bs As or Salta.

Avianca relatively cheap from Bogotà to BA, try the different cheapflight pages. Have had problems with them in the past, but nowhere near as unreliable as Aerolineas Argentinas (see recent thread http://baexpats.org/expat-life/6215-aerolineas-argentinas-flight-nz.html

...then a bus to Salta....or a flight to Santiago and spend two days on a bus north and over.

Walk? Hitch? Bike? Bus? If the idea of five days on a bus doesn't faze you, take a look at http://www.grupo-ormeno.com.pe/rutas1.php

Ormeño are AFAIK the only bus company who can carry you all the way: you could probably do it cheaper by using different bus companies for different legs of the journey but unfortunately few of them have working web sites and you would probably have to do your research by phone - or do it my way and simply turn up at the bus stations and see what's there.
