Chinese President Xi Jinping has been making scurrilous claims the US Army caused the Coronavirus. I don't think anybody believes that. Somebody should tell Mr. Xi that AFAIK bats are not sold in US restaurants, nor Pangolins, nor live cats and dogs to be serve for lunch or dinner. He should permanently shot down all those live animal markets.
Not only are they disgusting and unethical but also deadly.

I mentioned the conspiracy theory back in late January that the blogosphere in China was already blaming the USA. https://baexpats.org/threads/corona-virus-may-hit-argentina-hard.42184/page-5#post-379798

Once this is over, I think there is going to be a major reckoning about the need for the USA to economically distance itself from China (PRC). To the extent that no military or essential infrastructure, telecoms, power generation, water, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, etc. have ANY supply chain dependence on China (PRC).

The fact that China (PRC) concealed the extent of the epidemic (and probably still are) is unforgivable.

Truth is we just do not know and will probably never know. We can only choose to agree with one set of propaganda over another.

Yes, China is accusing the US of planting the virus. Trump is NOT wrong to call it a Chinese virus because that is exactly what it is. For two months the Chinese government suppressed the news of the virus during which time it spread globally. And it's true that the US should reduce its dependence on China, especially for medicine (around 97% of antibiotics sold in the US come from China). I suspect however that no matter who is elected (unless it's Sanders) President of the US it will be back to business as usual with China. It would be much wiser if the US would withdraw from doing business in China and start manufacturing again in the US. Companies can make a little less profit and the people can pay a little more for products manufactured in the US.

This is the second time a world epidemic has originated in China. Scientists warned China about a repeat of SARS for years. Despite these warnings,China refused to close it's live wildlife markets. Now we have the "chinavirus."

China and its wildlife markets are entirely responsible for this absolute disaster, appropriately called "chinavirus." In response, international community should adopt the following preventive measure: all inbound travelers who have visited any country that maintains live wildlife markets should undergo a mandatory 14 day quarantine upon arrival.

In other words, speaking of the United States, any traveler arriving from China or having visited China within 14 days, should be forced into mandatory mandatory 14-day quarantine upon arrival at a United States entry point.

That way, China has a choice. China can close these infested wildlife markets and its citizens and/or outbound travelers can move freely. Or China can maintain them and outbound travelers will be quarantined for 14 days upon arrival at other countries. The choice is China's.

Donald,...If only it were true. Maybe you're too young to remember but before SARS, there was the Hong Kong Flu in 1968, The Avian flu in 2003 (AKA bird flu) and The Swine flu from 2009. Can you guess what country they all had in common?.
BTAIM I have the utmost respect for the people of China. After WW ll they inherited a country that was in total ruins. And they were able to turn it around into one of the world's superpowers in one generation. That is nothing short of remarkable. For the sake of humanity world wide they just need to closed down those live animal markets.

It's blatantly obvious why Trump is trying to stigmatize China. His racist agenda targeting Trump supporters who love to hate Mexicans, Jews, Asians especially Chinese. Trump is no student of history, nor is he scientifically literate. It's yet another cynical tool aimed at his 'base' of ignorant, racist, evangelical supporters.
Separately it's a fantasy, in a global economy and the deep involvements in trade between the US and China, that the US will be withdrawing from trading with China. Period.

I found this video interesting. Apparently, thousands of urns containing ashes of deceased have mysteriously appeared at funeral homes in Wuhan. Funny, the number of urns is several times larger than the number of chinavirus deaths reported by the CCP. And several times larger than the number of deaths reported in the area in years past.
