"Coming to Argentina more than twice a year" in times of Milei

Hi everyone! I have a question I'd like to ask you all.

My partner is American. He visited argentina twice this year. March (stayed 10 days), June-July (stayed 60 days) and now he's thinking about coming here in December... thinking about renewing the visa so he can stay here till early May.

The question is... if he leaves Argentina before May and comes back to America for 2,3,4 months and then visits Argentina... is that going to be a problem?

He doesn't think about doing the Uruguay ferry thing, but staying in his country for a few months. Is it safe?

I think the limit is 180 days per year although I’m not sure if there is a hard cap on tourists. But if you spend more than 6 months in a country you run into tax residency issues.

He is a long way off from becoming at risk of paying tax in Argentina. At a minimum, he would need to take out temporary residency, and even then, it would be another 12 months before he became a tax resident here.

180 days as @TimeTraveler said. You might want to write the actual dates down and study them visually to see that there are no accidental overlaps. I've made a crude slide rule out of cardboard to help with the rolling date calculations!

Visiting friends and family is an absolutely okay thing to do as a tourist but it helps if your visit patterns don't look like something else - living here or working here for instance. There was a period of several years when I was coming for exactly one week, three times a year and I had a hard time convincing them I wasn't coming on business and in need of a formal business visa.

My most recent visit was unexpected, unscheduled and unplanned. An automatic 90 day entry would have taken me over my allowed time and I really had to show that I would be leaving again shortly for them to be happy to let me in.
