Confitería del Molino reopens after years of restoration

Confiteria Ideal is indeed a gem ! Years ago I`d eat their mediochre lunches, just because the setting was so beautiful !
I remember the Ideal when it was actually a confitería - no tango, no commercialism, just an old fashioned cafe that had long been neglected. At that time the micro center was more vibrant, at least less decadent than now. I have a feeling that the new Ideal will be a place for events rather than a working confitería but we shall see.

Why hasn't the Molino not reopened as a confitería?

I'm sorry that there's to be no more tango at Confiteria Ideal. For me, a nonparticipant who nevertheless enjoys watching tango it was in the Goldilocks zone of places to take visiting friends. Not as hard as a real milonga, not as soft as a formulaic tango show it was "just right"
The first place I danced Tango in Buenos Aires. So many years ago. When a 100 peso note was worth 30$. I will always treasure those memories.

I was at a special exhibit (art?) of Del Molino in the early 2000s. Of course, most people were there to
see the work on the building. It was wonderful !
