Hi Everybody,

I'm just wondering if anyone can offer any insight into the cost of living in Buenos Aires as opposed to the cost of living in Montevideo?

I'm presuming that Montevideo would be considerably cheaper, and would also have proportionately lower levels of crime?

Suerte.

Expenses $300.00 (central heat + hotwater) Electricity $45.00 Gaz $25.00 Cable $45.00 Internet/phone $70.00 Health $250.00
(in $USD)

3 bedroom 120 sq m apt...downtown Mvdeo.

Health care sucks, we use BsAs. for health care...

Crime rates are rising here....mostly property and vehicle breakins...police do nothing... still safer than BsAs.

Neil, the $300 for heat+hot water is in Uruguay pesos per month, right? Or is it USD/month? That would be brutally expensive.

$300 is USD not pesos UY...!!! Welcome to UY...!!! Few people have central heat here..instead they use portable propane powered heaters un-vented...or wood..!!! or just freeze as it gets pretty cool here due to the constant wind....:(

We have losa central + unlimited hot water + some other stuff thus high expenses...!

UY is 50% more expensive than Arg. by my calculations....for utilities...!
