Hello all,

My wife and I have been living in CABA for the past year now and have become curious about living in another city.

Can anybody tell me how the cost of living compares in Rosario? Is it cheaper there? A lot cheaper?

I know this is a broad question. If it helps, we are currently spending around $2000 a month to live a modest but comfortable life in Belgrano (a third of that is spent in rent for a big studio apartment).

Thanks,
Moe

I was in Rosario in May and will be there by next week too. It's a lovely city, green, cleaner than BsArs, the people are less grumpy than the porteños and indeed cheaper. I was offered a flat for 1 or 2 persons for 500 dollar a month all in but i won't need it 'cause I'll stay with friends.

Like always the problem is the "garantia". Without knowing the answer, there should be more chances to get a nice place at Argentinean prices, since there are less expats living there and less leeches (locals that live from foreigners). (And yes, I am socialist and all, but somebody that charges three times the local price to an expat is a leech in my book).

I really like Rosario; it seems like a very pleasant city to live in. I was only there once about a year ago, but I recall taxis being much cheaper than BA. Grocery items were roughly the same price, while dishes in restaurants were of better value and quality (it was the summer, so I ordered salads everywhere and they always came out huge, colorful, and super-fresh.)

Agreed and 2 of the best people I know in Bsas are Rosarinos who aptly described the river and the calming effect it has on the city. I have to admit I ate an amazing Carlitos there (toasted H+C sandwich but lots of bits, mostly with ketchup, often with mayonnaise or both as well as egg, chicken..depends on the place you try) that would be described as the best hangover food ever.

In terms of prices in Rosario....not much cheaper...maybe 20%. Rent being the exception...rent is cheaper for sure!

In terms of quality of life...amazing. I still unfortunately have the need to be in BsAs....but almost constantly trying to figure out how to live in Rosario.

Thanks for the input. Does anyone on this Forum live in Rosario?

Thanks BAFinance, that's good to hear.

Any idea how much a 40/sqm flat would rent for there?
