Coup to Bolsonaro, militars took control in Brazil

Doing a search of 'Bolsonaro' on Google and Twitter doesn't reveal any coup news.

This is complete inaccurate.
The truth of the matter is that Bolsonaro is still president, but he has burned so many bridges, that he is virtually isolated, alone and powerless.
The executive is effectively being run by his three top ministers (all civilians) - Guedes the minister of economy, Moro the minister of Justice and Mandetta the minister of Health. They are literally ignoring Bolsonaro and they have the full support of both houses of congress, the supreme court and the vice president (General Mourao). Bolsonaro will not fire them because if he does, he is very likely to be impeached.
The fact that the top ministers of the executive, Congress, the Judiciary, the state governors and local Mayors are keeping the country afloat, taking proper measures and curtailing Bolsonaro's actions is an example of the Democratic system and Brazilian institutions working as they should.

A truly functional democracy does not and cannot have a single critical point of failure in its elected president.

The President is the Commander in chied of the army and Ministers.
If the army and / or the Ministers becomes independent, then you have a coup if they are successful or a rebellion if they are not.
The scenario you described is that Brasil has falled in a medieval system where there are several independent powers that overlap and contradict.
A President who is ignored when some other groups rules is what happened here with the 2nd President Illia and it was the It was the beginning of the infamous decade-long call of which no one doubts that they were lightly made-up coups.

He still is. He can fire them anytime he wants. He does not because he knows this will lead to impeachment.

I disagree. There is no contradiction and no overlap. The Executive is executing. The legislative legislates and the Judiciary judges. All of that is happening right now.
Bolsonaro is still president simply because ALL of the political class (from the left to the right) would prefer not to go through the impeachment process in the middle of a global pandemic. But everyone is working together to address the crisis to the best of their ability and independent of political affiliation or ideological leaning, which is quite a sight to see. Partisan bickering has virtually disappeared and everyone is working together to address the crisis (which the exception of Bolsonaro). If he tries to rock the boat, he will be impeached.
What is happening in Brazil right now is the exact opposite of a medieval system.

Just to give an idea of how the entire political class is working in sync to try to handle the COVID-19 crisis, a Constitutional Amendment allowing the government to go beyond the budget cap during extreme times has just been passed in the house: 423 Yes vs. 1 No.
That is unprecedented in Brazilian history. We have never seen a political class so willing to put aside differences and work towards a common goal like this before. We have never seen so much coordination and good will, from the extreme left to the extreme right like this before.
I think this is probably the most republican moment in Brazilian history.

The President says A, the Military and the Ministers who are members of the executive power and subordinates of the President do B, but for you institutions are Ok. Right. Lucky us there is consensus about that the President is wrong and all together mutinied.
FYI If it were not for the fact that they are saving the country, they would go non-stop to a court-martial.

I don't know how it works in Argentina, but in Brazil, civilians cannot face a court martial. All the "rebellious" ministers can be fired by Bolsonaro. They even offered their resignation. He refused. So he is OK with being ignored.
Besides, were the political class and members of the executive not focused on saving the country, Bolosonaro would have been impeached, there would be no "mutiny" and we would not be having this conversation. The ONLY exceptionalism here is Bolsonaro still being in office as president, as that is happening only because of the COVID-19 crisis.
