AstraZeneca has made it known that it could provide vaccines originating from Europe's slowness to approve their use. In other words, vaccines manufactured to supply Europe would be derived to Argentina since our country already has the approval of the ANMAT for the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. It is not clear if the vaccines will come directly or if they will be part of the items purchased - nine million vaccines acquired by Argentina - from the Global Access Fund for Vaccines (Covax) of the World Health Organization.

I never had any intention of being vaccinated with the Sputnik V or any other vaccine that becomes available in ARG. I made that assertion very clear from the onset. I plan to be vaccinated with any of the vaccines available in the SF Bay Area when I travel there sometime in May/June.

Coronavirus: the City aims to vaccinate 470,000 adults over 70 years old and it will be with online appointments.

The rescheduling of the third flight to Russia to look for a new load of vaccines to continue with the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 disrupted the government's plans, which will not have the 4.7 million doses of Sputnik V by the end of the month as planned. However, planning progresses in the different jurisdictions according to their needs and, according to the agreed order of priority, with health personnel as priority and the elderly in second place.

The City of Buenos Aires has already established that after completing the inoculation of the 140,000 people who work throughout the health network, the new doses of the vaccine developed by the Government of Vladimir Putin will be used for 470,000 adults over 70 years of age who must sign up thru an online appointment system that would be available from the first week of February.

So far 24,300 health workers have already received the first dose of the vaccine produced by the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, in conjunction with the Federation's Ministry of Health and the Russian Direct Investment Fund, with the corresponding doses sent in the first batch by the Government of the Nation. According to the vaccination scheme, Sputnik V has two components that must be applied 21 days apart. The first group of health workers is receiving the second dose with the vaccines that will be delivered in the next batch, but there are still more than 115,000 who did not receive any doses. "The progress of the campaign will depend on the number of doses that Russia delivers to the Nation," says an official source in the city. "This will also depend on when we can start vaccinating adults over 70 years old," he adds.

The appointment system via the web could begin to work after February 8 for older adults, although the final confirmation will come when there are more certainty about the next flight to Russia. By that date, the objective of the City is to have all health personnel already vaccinated, at least with one dose.

In the second stage of vaccination, 28 out-of-hospital posts will be set up for adults over 70 years of age and, later, upon completion of 470,000, for those over 60 years of age. Four of them, the so-called super posts, will be located at the Recoleta Cultural Center, in Parque Roque and the San Lorenzo and River stadiums, where a "Detectar" operation is already operating. The Boca, Huracán and Ferro soccer fields, the Racing headquarters in Villa del Parque and buildings of other public entities will be reconditioned to become places of vaccination.

Residents in the CABA nursing homes will also be included in the second stage of vaccination. There are 16,000 people housed who will be cared for in the establishments themselves. The city's Ministry of Health estimates that at least 1,100,000 people belonging to all risk groups are those who should receive the vaccine with priority. Then it will be the turn of the general population....

....tomorrow the City's Minister of Health, Fernán Quirós, will give a press conference to explain, in detail, how the vaccination plan is progressing in the city. Quirós is expected to offer more information on the start date of vaccination for those over 70 years of age.

The next four stages will include: adults aged 60 to 69 years; strategic staff; people between 18 and 59 years of age with risk factors (insulin-dependent and non-insulin-dependent diabetes, grade 2 and 3 obesity, chronic cardiovascular, kidney and / or respiratory diseases); and other strategic groups defined by the jurisdictions according to the availability of doses. The Buenos Aires Government they clarified that the temporality of these instances will be subject to the provision of the vaccine.
